Stupid

We gambled with new information

and laughed at studied skill.

We only put trust in convenience,

blind to the blood we spill.

A new kind of non-conformist,

paving the way with lies.

An only-me attitude,

Regardless of who cries.

They stand so tall

Unwilling to look ahead

Unwilling to plan for a fall

.

Ignorance runs like tap

They take what they want

Consequence falls to the children’s lap

.

They rely on bias lie

Curse the efforts

Then pray to the sky

.

Tradition is a tool

An excuse to continue, not learn

A blind for the fool

Stunted World

To make the message a little lighter, I will be writing this to Jeff Foxworthy’s comedy tune:

If you suggest to someone that they are being punished for lack of faith in any religion or to any diety– you might be a stunted human.

If you suggest to someone that their disease, illness, syndrome, condition, or disorder could be cured with better obedience, more faith, or more prayer to any religion or diety– you might be a stunted human.

If you think others around you are troubled, stupid, or wrong for having different beliefs than you– you might be a stunted human.

If you hold strong beliefs that affect the way you treat others, with no factual evidence or truth to back those beliefs– you might be a stunted human.

If you automatically dismiss new information because it doesn’t align with your current understanding– you might be a stunted human.

If you find the need to convert others to your beliefs, without any understanding or intention to learn about anyone else’s– you might be a stunted human.

The author’s definition of what a stunted human would be: One who hasn’t yet, or refuses to, seek knowledge. One who is intellectually inflexible. One who lives in a state of “rightness.”

Post Traumatic Stress

The most familiar feeling

A heavy pit that rots in its nest on top of the stomach

Using the rib cage as a place to hang pictures

Shoulders that stiffen up with pride

And ache with sorrow

Windpipe collapsing on itself with the confusion between sobs

Blame and guilt that have tea time with devastation and panic

The heart that outweighs the knowledge

To sit in silence and suffer through the raging war inside

Second hand by now

But the intensity remains

The Truth — March 8, 2021

The Truth

If you don’t agree that it takes courage to live inside your truth

Then I don’t believe you actually live inside your truth

When we lie for the comfort of others, we do everyone a disservice

And the more you deflate that boundary, the harder it is to inflate

So love yourself and those around you

And find the courage

To live your truth out loud
